The city of Yuma is located in northeastern Colorado covering 3,000 square miles. The area is known for its Agricultural community, with a growing season of approximately 138 days. The availability of water from the Ogallala aquifer, Bonny State Reservoir and center pivot irrigation systems create this long growing season. The elevation in the area ranges from 3,400 feet to 5,000 feet. Boating, fishing, water skiing, hunting and golf are popular activities in the area.

Bonny Lake is a popular attraction in the Yuma area. This lake is away from the hustle and bustle of busy city lakes, located at an elevation of 3,700 feet. The lake boasts colorful vistas in the fall and a variety of year-round recreational activities. Fishing is also well known and excellent with an abundance of Walleye, northern pike and a variety of bass fish. Hunting is also popular, and available from the Tuesday after Labor Day through the Friday before Memorial Day. Winter is also a popular time for ice-skating.

Nearby is the town of Wray, an agricultural based economy supported by corn, wheat and cattle. The beautiful lakes and ponds offer outdoor sports, fishing and hunting. South of Wray is a battleground site commemorating a battle between the Indians and incoming settlers in 1868.
