  1. Beginning in Pagosa Springs proper, travel 2½ miles west on US 160 to Piedra River Road. Travel north approximately 24 miles to Williams Creek Reservoir. The reservoir yields Rainbow and Brook Trout and Kokanee Salmon. This is a State Wildlife area which requires a Habitat Stamp for persons 19 through 64.
  2. Big Meadow Reservoir and Shaw Lake reside northeast of Pagosa Springs near Wolf Creek Pass. Travel west from US 160 on County Road (CR) 410. Big Meadows Reservoir offers good fishing for Brook and Rainbow Trout. A little further on CR 410, Shaw Lake is good fishing for Cutthroat Trout.
  3. South of Pagosa Springs on US 84, turn east onto CR 326 (Blanco Basin Road) and follow it to Castle Creek. Turn right and cross over Blanco River - it's two miles to the parking area. There's good opportunity for Rainbow Trout on Opal Lake with good fishing on the river and in beaver ponds below the lake.
  4. Buckles and Harris Lakes are a bit further south on US 84. Head north on Buckles Lake Road to the parking area, then hike in to the lakes a ½ mile. The lakes produce a fair population of Rainbow Trout.
